Revelstoke
Every year 8,000 HELISKI and CAT SKIING skiers from all over the world, meet in Revelstoke, attracted by perfect snow and varied terrain. The area is in continuous expansion and will soon become, with its 25 lifts and more than 100 ski and snowboard slopes, one of the largest resorts in North America and a favorite destination for winter tourism worldwide.
If you are looking for a snow powder, soft and plentiful (4 meters on average), come to Revelstoke! Thanks to its unique geographical location, the climate is mild and the proximity of the Columbia River makes snow powdery and light. This is the place dedicated to the adventures in winter- on the Selkirk Mountain and Monashee Mountain, there are 6,400 acres of skiable terrain and a vertical drop of 1850 meters. The list of après-ski activities in winter and that Revelstoke has to offer is long: Nordic skiing (25 km of slopes on Mount MacPherson), ice skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, heli-skiing, curling, ski’s with the snowmobile, and thermal treatments. With its 100 km of slopes, Revelstoke is among the top 10 places to enjoy snowmobiling in North America. Nestled between the spectacular Selkirk and Monashee mountains, the village offers the visitor a wide range of services in a relaxed atmosphere and friendly, typical of the West Coast of Canada. The city centre has restored buildings from the Victorian era, picturesque locations and elegant boutiques.
Founded in 1880 as the center of the mining industry, the city expands during the construction of the railway line which crosses the Canada from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific, the Canadian Pacific Railway. The railroad played a large role in the development of this area of British Columbia and its history is presented in the Revelstoke Railway Museum. Today this vibrant mountain community is a reference point for outdoor recreation in the province of British Columbia: with 2 national parks, 3 provincial parks and several municipal parks, the area presents breathtaking views and the charm of unspoiled nature.
